Gone out of time*
There’s no time
there’s no time left
no time today no time tomorrow
no time like the present
yet how many times must I tell
you – that this here could make
me fall down – hard
how many times should I say
you will still go your own way
prince of darkness prince of light
pulling me down
tanking my existence
in the spring rain pouring down
you send out words
weaving me a warm wool sweater
of care.
I am fighting you with words
singing songs in time.
What if you’re running out?
What if you’re walking out?
What if you’ve gone out of time?
That’s why we say here:
‘Oet de tied goan’
when someone has died.
*Gone out of time. Lower Saxon dialect spoken in the eastern part of the Netherlands.
